Welcome

Strange as it may sound, yoga is not workout! Yoga is a systematic practice which guides the practitioner to constant awareness through insight and self awareness. The human body, as a means of communication between the soul and the material world, constitutes an integral part of this procedure, providing a plethora of information on a spiritual and emotional level, as well as on our overall existence.

Due to the complexity and specificity of our existence, we have various reactions to the stimuli around us, without knowing why. As a result the way we behave reveals much more information than we ourselves are aware of. Yoga leads the practitioner to use the body, through breathing and asanas, impelling the manifestation of these behaviours, so that he/she can recognise, accept and finally overcome them.

In Abhyasa Ashtanga Shala and under Dimitris’ guidance, the traditional system of Ashtanga Yoga is taught, as it has been passed down to us from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore in South India.

By providing the series of the system’s asanas along with courses on philosophy, the ground is prepared for the real purpose of yoga to thrive, it being none other than thinking and independent people whose real teacher is ultimately their own self as well as the practice per se.
